BRAINetwork will be organising a workshop entitled Bengkel Minda Bitara which will introduce the principles of Brain Based Learning to educators.
Specifically, this workshop will focus on the concept of neuroplasticity which stresses that every brain has the power to change neural pathways and build new synapses if given the opportunity to do so.
The neuroplastic curriculum is not meant to replace the existing curriculum. It aims to add value to the existing curriculum by changing MINDSETS and providing new methodologies that take advantage of the concept of neuroplasticity in order to optimise learning and memory.
This workshop is the first step in the implementation of the Neuroplastic Curriculum where educators will be exposed to the neurobiology of the mind and the brain and their relationship to the process of effective teaching and learning.
Participants will also carry out scientific studies [ action research projects ] that will evaluate levels of intelligence, learning styles and teaching styles. They will also learn to evaluate and eventually implement their research findings within the classroom. Participants will understand how to evaluate the learning environment and how to create a brain-based learning space that reflects the concepts of the neuroplastic curriculum.
The first workshop will begin on 8th May and consists of a 4-day workshop spread over 2 months. This is an intensive workshop and is limited to 12 participants at any one time. The participants will implement a small research project and the findings will be communicated via a seminar at the end of 2010.
