BRAINetwork has a NEW HOME and a NEW NAME
Our New Name: BRAINetwork CNS The Brain Research And Information Network [BRAINetwork ] has been in existence as a virtual transdisciplinary research group since 2005. However, the extent of the research as well as the collaborative transdisciplinary nature of BRAINetwork requires that the Centre has a physical presence. It currently focuses on transdisciplinary research in the neurocognitive sciences via the BRAINetwork Centre for Neurocognitive Science [BRAINetwork CNS] which currently has a human and animal neurocognitive laboratory and office within the School of Health Sciences.
BRAINetwork Centre for Neurocognitive Science aims to explore new frontiers in health science research in relation to maintaining neurocognitive health and wellness, discover new knowledge and to ensure that the proposed projects are sustainable via : Ø The procurement and utilisation of cutting-edge equipment Ø Human resource development Ø Transfer of knowledge via seminars, conferences and workshops. Ø Training of personel via external visits or visits by experts in the respective fields of research Ø Provision of services to the community Ø The establishment of international linkages and collaborations
Our NEW HOME BRAINetwork CNS was provided with funding for the construction of a small animal and human neurocognitive laboratory to be housed within the School of Health Sciences, USM. Funding was provided for the construction of a portacabin with basic facilities that would allow BRAINetwork to carry out its research activities within a fundamental, clinical and community-based framework. We have now moved into our new premises although we are not fully functional. Nevertheless we now have a physical identity with a home to call our own.
